FAQ

When can I file a claim?

As long as your condition lasts (or is projected to last) at least 12 months and prevents you from working to support yourself, you can file a claim.

How long does the process take?

This depends upon several factors, but you should expect the process to take several months. If your claim is denied and goes into appeal, you can expect a wait of up to 2 years before compensation is received.

Do I need an attorney?

An attorney is not necessary to begin or even appeal your case. Social Security Disability Claims Representatives, like Janice H. Whitehead & Associates, can take your claim through to the Appeals Council. If, however, you are denied at that level and want to appeal to Federal Court, you will need an attorney at that time.

Even if I am approved and get compensation I can’t afford my medication. Is there help available?

Yes, you may contact Merck Medications at 1-800-727-5400 to speak to a representative to see if you qualify for assistance.
Pfizer Medications also has a reduced cost program. Call 1-800-717-6005.
